Myles Schutte

Counseling is a collaborative process where the client and counselor work together to build trust, explore present challenges, define goals, and work systematically toward a better life. I have worked with clients on a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, codependency, sexual addictions, and sexual identity issues. My goal is to help uncover the root causes of these challenges, providing a safe and supportive space for healing and growth. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, close friends, and my two energetic cats. My hobbies include reading, watching superhero movies, gaming, and playing my favorite instrument, the tuba.

Education & Licensure

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I received my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and I received my BA in Religion at Baylor University. Additionally, I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and have completed basic training in EMDR.

Professional Philosophy

I view counseling as a collaborative process where the client and counselor build a relationship of understanding and trust. Together, we work to identity current challenges, set meaningful goals for a more fulfilling life, and take intentional steps toward achieving those goals.

My counseling style is eclectic and integrative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches provide practical tools, goal-setting strategies, and mindfulness techniques to support lasting change. Additionally, I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), offering specialized support for individuals struggling with addiction.

Experience & Specializations

I have experience helping clients navigate a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, codependency, sexual addictions, and sexual identity concerns. I approach these struggles as symptoms of deeper, underlying issues, and partner with you to uncover and address those root causes. I also specialize in working with individuals who have experienced sexual or emotional trauma, whether it is single-event, childhood, or ongoing trauma. To support healing, I have completed basic training in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy), a proven method for processing overcoming trauma and PTSD. I strive to create a safe and supportive space to help you find freedom and healing.

Personal Background

Outside the counseling office, I enjoy spending time with my family and close friends. At home, my two energetic cats (Dexter and Deedee) keep me entertained, and I indulge in hobbies such as reading fiction and fantasy, keeping up with the latest superhero movies, gaming with friends, and playing my favorite instrument – the tuba.
